To Enter University of Miyazaki
Undergraduate School (Bachelor's Degree)
1. Japanese Language Test
Prospective students applying to the undergraduate school as Privately
Financed Students are required to take the Examination for Japanese University
Admission for International Students (EJU) conducted by the Japan Student
Services Organization (JASSO) prior to applying for the Privately Financed
Student Entrance Examination conducted by individual faculties. The EJU,
conducted by JASSO, is held in June and November every year. For more details,

2. Application Form
Application forms (Japanese only) are
available in late September. If you wish to have an application form mailed to
you, please write to the Admissions Office (address: 1-1, Gakuen Kibana-dai,
Nishi, Miyazaki 889-2192 JAPAN). Be sure to write in red “Request for
Application Form for Private International Students” on the front of the
envelope. Be sure to enclose a self-addressed envelop (33.2cm x 24.0cm).
Graduate School (Master's and Doctoral Degree)
Application deadlines, exam dates and exam details vary according to graduate
school. For information or to request application forms, please contact
the graduate school you wish to enter.
Admission and Tuition Fees
Students are
charged a one-time admission fee of 282,000 yen, and a yearly tuition of
520,800 yen (effective FY 2004).
International students (except research students) with financial difficulties
may apply for a tuition fee exemption. Applications for tuition waivers
are subject to review by university authorities.
General Information
1. Japanese Language Ability
University of Miyazaki provides Japanese Learning
Support for international students and their families. However, potential
students are advised to study Japanese prior to their admission to University
of Miyazaki. because most classes at the undergraduate school are conducted in
Japanese. Although research activities can be conducted in English in some
graduate courses, adequate Japanese ability is required of international
students.
2. Accommodations and Living expenses
The university’s International House (dormitory)
offers 44 rooms for international students. Affordable public housing and
private apartments are also available near the campus. Apart from academic
fees, monthly expenditures for students are roughly 70,000 -100,000 yen, depending
on the type of accommodation.
3. Scholarships
Privately
Financed students with outstanding academic records who anticipate difficulties
in paying their school fees are invited to apply for scholarships offered by
local authorities and private scholarship foundations.
