Summer Program2019
- Summer Courses
- “Learn about Japan and Miyazaki and University of Miyazaki”
- We will give you 5 classes in this summer program as follows.
- (Japanese language, Japanese language practice, Japanese culture, Laboratory research, and Training program on the conservation, management and use of genetic resources)

- 1. Japanese language, 2. Japanese language practice, 3. Japanese culture:
- The Japanese language, Japanese language practice, and Japanese culture classes are designed for students at any Japanese level. In addition to language training the program enables students to deepen their understanding of Japan by experiencing traditional culture such as tea ceremony and taking part in visits to archaeological sites and other places of interest.
- 4. Laboratory research:
- The laboratory research class is designed for undergraduate students who wish to progress to postgraduate level. In lab, English will be the main language of instruction. It will take the form of lectures in small student groups delivered by relevant experts from the university’s academic staff. The topics addressed will be customized in accordance with the applicants’ research interests.
- If less than quota, class may not to be offered.
- 5. Training program on the conservation, management and use of genetic resources:
- In this course, we provide opportunities for learning about conservation, management and use of genetic resources through lectures and practical exercises as follows; Practice and method of model genetic resources (laboratory works, 90 hours). We conduct this course in English.
- This program is intended for master course students who may have basic knowledge of biology, molecular biology and genetics.

- The University doesn't approve any credits, but we issue a certificate of attending this program.

- Common to all courses
Status : Person enrolled in university.
Language skill : Person should be enrolled in an university and have an ability to communicate in Japanese or English.(Over 500 points on TOEFL or passed Grade 3 or higher on JLPT). If we cannot determine with your documents, we may decline your acceptance.
Health condition : Person who is judged by a doctor that being physically and mentally healthy enough to participate in this program with a defined medical certificate.
Subject: Course A, C, D, E
In principle applicants for Laboratory Research Class should have a current academic record (within the last year) equivalent to GPA 2.5 or above and a minimum TOEFL score of 500 (with the exception of native English speakers, applicants registered at universities in English speaking countries and applicants for the Japanese Language Class.)

- Course A: 130,000 yen (3 credits; Japanese language, Japanese culture and Laboratory research)
- Course B: 130,000 yen (3 credits; Japanese language, Japanese language practice, and Japanese culture)
- Course C: 120,000 yen (2 credits; Japanese language / Japanese culture and Laboratory research)
- Course D: 140,000 yen (2 credits; Japanese language, Japanese culture and Training program on the conservation, management and use of genetic resources)
- Course E: 130,000 yen (1 credit; Japanese language / Japanese culture and Training program on the conservation, management and use of genetic resources)
- ※Full payment in cash to be made on arrival (payment by credit cards is under consideration and we will inform you later whether it is impossible or not).
- The above fee doesn't cover meal expenses and daily transport
- Accommodation
- Guest House and dormitory: Guest house and dormitory are located in Kiyotake campus where 5-10 minutes away by bus from Kibana campus.
- Room: Single, Twin, Triple
- Depending on circumstances, we may not be able to guarantee preferred room type.

- Alternatively, if you are registered with a university that has an exchange agreement with Miyazaki, please send your application through the officer for international exchange at your home university.
