Winter Program 2020

Purpose of the Program

“Learn about Japan and Miyazaki and University of Miyazaki”
Two classes will be provided in this winter program as follows:

1. Japanese language, 2. Japanese culture:

 The Japanese language and Japanese culture classes are designed for students at any Japanese level. In addition to language training the program will enable students to deepen their understanding of Japan by experiencing traditional culture such as tea ceremony and taking part in visits to historical sites and other places of interest.

Course Components
Class time: 120 minutes / each
  1. 1.Japanese language (total of 6 times):
  2. Japanese I (Introductory Level)

Japanese II (Elementary Level)

Japanese III (Intermediate-Advanced Level)

2.Japanese culture (total of 6 times):

Japanese culture J (main language: Japanese)

Japanese culture E (main language: English)

Program Schedule
 
February 3rd  ― February 11th, 2020
*Program staff will pick participants up at Miyazaki Airport, and give accommodation information then.
Please see the attached sheet for the schedule.
Availability

20 students (There will be a selection process in case of over capacity.)
 *10 students minimum.

Application Condition

*Undergraduate or graduate students.
*Ability to communicate in Japanese or English.
*Over 500 score on TOEFL PBT, (60 score on TOEFL IBT), over 600 score on TOEIC, or passed Grade 3 or higher on JLPT.

*If we cannot decide based on your documents, we may decline your acceptance.
Fee

100,000 yen  (From February 2nd to February 12th, 12 days 11 nights)
* Full payment in cash to be made on arrival. Credit card is not accepted.
* The above fee includes accommodation fee, tuition fee, cultural experience fee, and transportation expenses. It doesn’t cover meal expenses.
*Please pay your travel costs and meal costs by yourself.  

*Program fee will not be refunded after payment.
Accommodation

Hotel nearby Miyazaki City downtown  
Hotel is located in Miyazaki City where 5-10 minutes away by walk from Machinaka Campus.
Room: Twin room

*Depending on circumstances, we may not be able to guarantee your preferred room type.
Application(Document format
  • Application form
  • Certificate of enrollment
  • Academic transcript
  • One letter of recommendation (by Dean, Departmental Chair, or Supervisor)
  • 3 ID photos (4cm×3cm, taken within the last 6 months)
  • Proof of Foreign Language Proficiency (TOEFL, TOEIC, or JLPT, etc.)
  • Copy of Passport or Certificate of Family Registration or Citizenship
  • Certificate of Health (Within tge last 6 months)
  • Health Self-Assessment for Foreign Students or Faculty Visiting UOM

Please send applications to the Global Support Office, at the Center for International Relations, University of Miyazaki by email and postal mail.
Alternatively, if you are registered at an university that has an exchange agreement with University of Miyazaki, please send your application through the officer for international exchange at your home university.
